One word sums up our weather this week FOG! Here and there we see peaks of sunshine. But for the most part there has been a rather stubborn marine layer hanging around. I do love to watch the fog role up the valley from the ocean and wrap it's mist around my yard. I suppose it doesn't have to be sunny every day. But us Californians can act rather spoiled with our sunshine.
Here are some sneak peaks of what we are doing in Home School this week.
Mongolian war ship out of terra cotta clay.
These are great maps, they have table size, wall size, and 1 page maps. This week we printed out the table size map of Africa and studied the different types of vegetation there. We also talked about what type of economy would take place in each region based on climate and resources.
We studied African Kente cloth on the internet.
For Math our family uses Teaching Textbooks.
Anna is finishing up her Marco Polo Lapbook
Art Lessons in charcoal ... we are using Artistic Pursuits High School for art this year.
We're listening to Hillsong United to keep us encouraged this week.

The fog looks cozy... but I know how claustrophobic it feels when it is over cast or foggy for very long.. I don't like it either. Those ships are wonderful. I love seeing all of your school work; it reminds me all over again of homeschool days, and makes me miss them. I think your kids are as artistic and talented as you are. Love all the art work, maps and those charcoals are so good. We are Hillsong United fans too; love Hillsong and Hillsong United. That's a great quote by Dostoevsky... its so true.
ReplyDeleteYou really do have talented kids, that Mongolian warship is an utter triumph and the charcoal sketching is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteNot keen on fog, reminds me of being terrified by the Jamie Lee Curtis horror movie of the same name when I was a kid! x
There is no limit to the information that you can get from the net. Lie that Mongolian ship with the sail.
ReplyDeleteDear Heather,
ReplyDeleteIt's not every day you see Mongolian warships made out of paper and clay! Unless you homeschool, of course. . . Fog is one of those things that makes me want to sleep all day; I hope it passes soon! Just think, spring will be upon us soon and the sun will become extra friendly!
Blessings to all,
Marqueta
